Jaarverslag Campusbibliotheek HW 2011

Het jaarverslag van de Campusbiblitoheek Humane Wetenschappen voor het jaar 2011 is nu ook elektronisch beschikbaar op de website van de Universiteitsbibliotheek.

Het verslag bevat niet enkel interessante statistieken, boeiend cijfermateriaal en verrassende grafieken (b.v. de evolutie van de collecties van de verschillende bibliotheken, het aantal bibliotheekbezoekers op maandbasis, inkomsten en uitgaven, enz.) maar ook mooie foto’s en informatie over de activiteiten en plannen van de bibliotheken (o.a. het Agora project, initiatieven van KULTURAMA en Flandrica).

Boeiend leesmateriaal dus voor iedereen die wat meer wil weten over wat er beweegt en groeit in de bibliotheken van Humane Wetenschappen.

Digitising the Vatican Library

The Bodleian Library of Oxford University is going to assist the Vatican in a four-year long project to digitise and publish online 1.5 million manuscripts and rare books from the Biblioteca Apostolica and from Oxford. Two thirds of the material will come from Rome, the rest from Oxord. These will include Greek and Hebrew manuscripts, as well as incunabula and early printed works in Hebrew.

Renewed Website

Loyal visitors to our site have undoubtedly already noticed that the website of the library was recently completely renewed. Following the launch of the Dutch site in January, the English version is now also functional. Not only are there a lot of practical information (e.g. accessibility, stack requests, imaging services, an emergency plan and a 2D-3D floor plan) and background information, but also the structure of the website has been reconsidered to improve your surfing experience. We have a growing collection of frequently asked questions and a collection of fun facts about the library. A novelty is that the contact details are always available in the left sidebar. Also the LIMO search interface is  always at hand: either on the page itself or in the left sidebar. At the top of the right sidebar you will find a collection of news items. Below that are the links to the most visited pages. Under the quick links we have posted the opening hours (with a visualization of the current occupation and a link to the closing dates). Finally, a search window with live search feature enables you to quickly and efficiently find the information you are looking for. Switching between languages is very easy: you will not be returned to the home page but immediately get the corresponding page in Dutch or English.

Vernieuwde website

Trouwe bezoekers van onze website hebben ongetwijfeld reeds gemerkt dat de website van de bibliotheek onlangs helemaal vernieuwd is. Na de lancering van de Nederlandse site in januari, is nu ook de Engelstalige versie functioneel. Niet alleen werd er zeer veel praktische informatie  (bv. bereikbaarheid, magazijnaavragen, reproductie, noodsituaties en een 2D-3D plan) en achtergrond informatie op onze website geplaatst, maar ook over de opbouw en structuur van de website is nagedacht. We hebben een steeds groter wordende verzameling van vaak gestelde vragen en een collectie van leuke feitjes over de bibliotheek. Een nieuwigheid is dat de contactgegevens altijd beschikbaar blijven in de linker navigatiekolom. Ook de LIMO zoekinterface blijft altijd bij de hand: ofwel op de pagina zelf ofwel in de linker kolom. In de rechterkolom vind je bovenaan een verzameling van nieuwsitems. Daaronder vind je links naar de meest bezochte pagina’s. Onder de snellinks hebben we de openingsuren geplaatst (met een visualisatie van de actuele bezetting en een link naar de sluitingsdata). Ten slotte is er een zoekvenster met live search functie om snel en efficiënt de gezochte informatie terug te vinden. Ook het veranderen van taal gaat zeer vlot: je wordt niet terug naar de startpagina geleid maar je krijgt meteen de corresponderende pagina in het Nederlands of het Engels.

Jouw mening als websitebezoeker en als bibliotheekgebruiker is zeer belangrijk voor ons. Daarom hebben we verschillende formulieren aangemaakt om ons te contacteren, bestelsuggesties door te geven, vermiste boeken aan te geven of eventuele klachten te melden.

Gebruikers van de meest recente versie van Mac OS X (versie 10.7.2 – Lion) kunnen de oplossing vinden voor inlogproblemen met KotNet en CampusNet op de site van ICTS.

Opening Centrum Conciliestudie Vaticanum II | Inauguration Centre Study Vatican Council II

Centrum Conciliestudie Vaticanum II krijgt ruimere locatie

Het in 1970 opgerichte Centrum Conciliestudie Vaticanum II  krijgt een nieuwe locatie. Deze wordt op 3 maart 2011 plechtig geopend. Het centrum huisvest een uitgebreide en aangroeiende collectie archivalia van Belgische bisschoppen en theologen, aanwezig op het Tweede Vaticaans concilie (1962-1965). De belangrijke en vaak beslissende invloed van de Belgen op  het concilie is internationaal erkend. Het Centrum herbergt ook belangrijke collecties van Belgische missiebisschoppen, actief aanwezig op het concilie.

Op 3 maart ontvangt het Centrum de archiefcollectie van Prof. Em. Jan Grootaers, een bevoorrechte getuige en kenner van de conciliaire gebeurtenissen. De plechtige opening is het startschot van een uitgebreide reeks studiedagen en colloquia die naar aanleiding van de vijftigste verjaardag van het concilie worden georganiseerd in de periode 2012-2015. De Faculteit Godgeleerdheid (K.U. Leuven) wil immers, zoals de Belgische bisschoppen en theologen op het concilie, op een kritische, constructieve en loyale wijze blijven ijveren voor het voortzetten van de door Johannes XXIII gewilde vernieuwing.

Inauguration of Centre for the Study of the Second Vatican Council 

The Centre for Vaticanum II, founded in 1970, will be housed in a new building. This will be inaugurated on March 3, 2011. The centre contains the vast and ever-growing archival collection of the Belgian bishops and theologians who were present at the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965). The important and often crucial influence of these Belgian delegates at the council is internationally acknowledged. The centre also houses a large collection of archives of Belgian missionary bishops who were also active at the council.

Thomasfeest: verminderde dienstverlening – Thomasfeast: limited schedule

Op donderdag 3 maart viert de faculteit theologie haar jaarlijkse St-Thomasfeest. Om die reden zal de bibliotheek tussen 12u en 16u met een verminderde dienstverlening werken. Magazijnaanvragen worden opgehaald voor 12u of om 16u. Gelieve hier rekening mee te houden.

On Thursday, March 3rd,  the Faculty of Theology celebrates its annual Feast of Saint Thomas. For that reason, the library will operate on a limited schedule from 12 noon till 4 pm. Requested books will be collected before 12 noon or at 4 pm. Please take this into account.

Zeven wonderen van Leuven | Seven wonders of Leuven

Naar analogie met de zeven wereldwonderen uit de Klassieke Oudheid, kozen de Leuvenaars in de 18^de eeuw hun eigen ‘zeven wonderen van Leuven’. In de 20^ste eeuw bleek echter dat heel wat van die wonderen uit het Leuvense straatbeeld verdwenen waren, waarop verschillende nieuwe mogelijke wonderen werden voorgesteld. Ter gelegenheid van Erfgoeddag 2010 brachten het Stadsarchief, de vzw Cultureel erfgoed annuntiaten en de erfgoedcel een reeks uit waarin zeven historische zeventallen worden voorgesteld. Onze theologische bibliotheek krijgt daarbij een plaatsje tussen de Leuvense wonderen.

De kleurrijke wand waarmee de rechterzijde van de bibliotheek afgewerkt is, werd ontworpen door architect Paul Van Aerschot  en doet denken aan een boekenwand met staande en omgevallen boeken. In één van de onderste rijen vindt men het woord SPES (hoop), dat naast de fides en de caritas één van de drie theologische deugden is.

Analogous to the seven wonders of the ancient world, Louvain inhabitants in the 18th century chose their own ‘seven wonders of Leuven’. By the 20th century, many of those wonders had disappeared from the streets of Leuven, whereupon several new potential wonders were chosen. On the occasion of Heritage Day 2010, the Stadsarchief, the vzw Cultureel erfgoed annuntiaten and the Erfgoedcel introduced a new series of brochures which present the ‘seven historical sevens of Leuven’. It is here that our theological library is given a place among the ‘seven wonders of Leuven’.

The colorful wall on the right side of the library was designed by architect Paul Van Aerschot and depicts a bookcase with standing and fallen books. In one of the lower rows, you can find the word SPES (hope), which is, in addition to faith and charity, one of the three theological virtues.

Openingstijden kerstperiode | Opening hours Christmas time

De bibliotheek zal gesloten zijn van vrijdag 24 december 2010 t.e.m. zondag 2 januari 2011, met UITZONDERING van maandag 27 en dinsdag 28 december 2010. Op deze twee dagen is de bibliotheek open tussen 8u30 en 17u.

The library will be closed from Friday 24 December 2010 till Sunday 2 January 2011,  with the EXCEPTION  of Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December 2010. On those two days, the library will be open from 8:30 am till 5 pm.

Uitlenen didactisch materiaal

Materiaal met betrekking tot de leerkrachtenopleiding – zowel hand/werkboeken als audiovisueel materiaal – kan

uitgeleend worden.

Werkwijze:

1. Om didactisch materiaal uit te lenen, wendt u zich binnen de kantooruren (8u30-17u) tot de balie.  
2. Een medewerker komt samen met jou naar de didactische hoek, om het uitleenformulier in te vullen en de item te overhandigen.
3. Per uit te lenen item betaal je een waarborg van 2 euro (liefst gepast)
4. Na maximum twee weken breng je het materiaal terug naar de balie
5. Samen met de medewerker werk je in de didactische hoek het uitleenformulier verder af en krijg je de waarborg terugbetaald.

 Praktische afspraken:

-          De uitleentermijn bedraagt maximum twee weken
-          Draag zorg voor het uitgeleende materiaal, zo kunnen de
           mensen na jou ook genieten van onbeschadigde exemplaren.
-          Laat het uitgeleende materiaal niet onbeheerd achter, ook niet
           in de bibliotheek zelf. Jij bent er immers verantwoordelijk voor.
